Verruca Treatment in Cardiff

Verrucas are caused by a contagious virus that thrives in damp places such as swimming pools, showers and changing rooms. They often clear up on their own, but they can spread, grow larger and become painful. They’re most common in children and don’t always need treatment, but when they do, our HCPC-registered podiatrists can help.

Professional verruca assessment and treatment

If you’re struggling with verrucas, or simply want to confirm a diagnosis, we recommend an initial verruca assessment and treatment with one of our podiatrists.

The most suitable treatment depends on the number, size and location of the verrucas, your age and how much pain they’re causing. We’ll explain your options and recommend the approach most likely to work for you.

When to seek professional help

  • ✓Pain when walking or standing
  • ✓Verrucas spreading in number
  • ✓Verrucas increasing in size
  • ✓Restricting your activities
  • ✓Concerns about appearance
  • ✓An accurate diagnosis, as what looks like a verruca can sometimes be a corn

In-clinic treatments we offer

Depending on your assessment, we may recommend one or more of the following treatments.

Cryotherapy
Freezing treatment applied directly to the verruca in clinic.
Acid treatments
Strong acid treatments, far more effective than over-the-counter versions.
Verruca Needling
Also known as Falknor’s Needling. Carried out under local anaesthetic, it stimulates your immune system to recognise and clear the virus. Find out more
Verrutop
A painless treatment applied directly to the verruca every two weeks, suitable for adults and children.

Which appointment should I book?

Most verrucas are best seen first at a standard verruca appointment. If a verruca has not responded to other treatments, or keeps coming back, Verruca Needling is offered as a package.
