Feet In Focus was established in 2004 by HCPC-registered podiatrist Mathew Vaughan to bring a complete range of high-quality podiatry, chiropody and musculoskeletal care to the heart of Cardiff city centre. From everyday footcare to complex biomechanical problems, we offer professional, evidence-based treatment with a friendly, personal approach.

Our Cardiff clinic

We pride ourselves on professional yet friendly footcare. From simple issues such as corns and ingrowing toenails through to complex body and foot-posture problems. Our ground-floor, city-centre clinic is equipped with sophisticated video gait analysis, letting us film and analyse the whole body walking or running; from the front, side and rear in slow motion, to identify even the smallest problem.

Every one of our podiatrists is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and belongs to the Royal College of Podiatry, with ongoing professional development so you always receive current, evidence-based care.

Meet Mathew Vaughan

Mathew Vaughan BSc DPod MChS
HCPC Registered Podiatrist and Clinic Director

A former semi-professional rugby player, Mathew understands first-hand the importance of staying active, preventing injuries and recovering from them. His sporting background continues to shape his approach to podiatry.

Mathew graduated from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff in 2003 with a BSc in Podiatry, achieving the highest marks in his final practical examinations.

With over 23 years of clinical experience across Boots Footcare, Cardiff NHS services and Feet In Focus, Mathew has treated patients of all ages, from those with everyday foot problems to elite athletes seeking injury treatment and improved performance.

He believes in understanding the person behind the problem, identifying the cause and providing effective, individual treatment.

Committed to continually developing his expertise, Mathew has undertaken additional training in video gait analysis, foot orthotics, acupuncture, injection therapies, advanced local anaesthetics, pharmacology and verruca cryosurgery.

Mathew is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Your first visit

New to the clinic? There’s nothing to worry about. Your podiatrist takes time to understand your concerns, reviews your medical history, examines your feet (and posture where relevant) and explains a clear treatment plan, with no rushing. We welcome self-paying patients and work with the major health insurers, including Bupa, Aviva, WPA and Cigna. If you have any questions before booking, just call the clinic on 02920 644900 and our team will be happy to help.

Getting into the clinic. The clinic is on the ground floor, but there are a few steps up to the entrance, with a handrail. If steps are difficult for you, please call us on 02920 644900 before your visit and we will do what we can to help.

All new patients should arrive 15 minutes before their appointment to complete the mandatory registration form and medical questionnaire. This information is essential for us to assess and treat you safely and effectively.

Returning patients and those receiving ongoing treatment should let us know about any changes to their health, medication or medical history. This includes recent surgery, such as a hip replacement, new heart conditions or any other health concerns.
