Children’s Podiatry & Paediatric Assessments in Cardiff

Worries about our own health can be stressful, but worries about our children’s can feel far greater. Our podiatrists have many years’ experience with children’s podiatry and musculoskeletal needs (posture, muscles and joints), and are here to reassure you and give expert advice. We assess and treat everything from troublesome verrucas to postural concerns such as flat feet or in-toe walking.

How we can help your child

Children’s feet are still growing and changing, so it is not always easy to tell what is a normal part of development and what needs attention. If something about your child’s feet, legs or walking is worrying you, we can take a look, explain what we find in plain terms and agree the best next steps with you.

Parents often bring their children to us with:

  • ✓Heel, knee or foot pain, especially in active children who play sport
  • ✓Flat feet, in-toeing or an unusual walking pattern
  • ✓Tripping, tired feet or aching legs
  • ✓Ingrowing toenails and other nail problems
  • ✓Verrucas that have not cleared with treatments from the chemist

We see children of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers, and you are welcome to stay with your child throughout the appointment. We take time to put children at ease, explain what we are doing as we go, and talk you both through any treatment before it starts. Many problems can be managed simply, with footwear advice, exercises or treatment at home, and we will only suggest more involved treatment if your child needs it.
