Health Insurance
As our podiatrists are registered with The Health & Care Professions Council and have many years of professional practice we have been recognised by all the major private healthcare insurance providers to provide podiatry and musculoskeletal services.
If you hold health insurance please advise our team at the time of arranging your appointment: you will be asked to provide the health insurance company name, your policy number, your authorisation number and date of birth at the time of booking.
Most insurance companies require a referral from your general practioner before providing you with an authorisation number; some policies may actually require a referral from a recognised consultant such as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon or rheumatologist, particularly if an extensive biomechanical assessment with gait analysis is required.
We therefore recommend that the referral and type of appointment is always discussed with your insurance company beforethe appointment as any treatment that is not authorised by the health insurance company would then be charged to the patient personally.
Following treatment, for your convenience, we liase directly with your insurance company regarding your treatment costs.
Quick Check List
- Referral can be obtained from your GP, a recognised consultant or sometimes through a direct phone referral with your insurance company
- Contact is made with your insurance company to provide authorisation.
- Patient provides full details of medical insurance at the time of booking.
- Following treatment we will liase with the insurance company direct and bill them for your treatment.
- Generally you receive a statement from your health insurance company to inform you that you treatment has been paid for either partially or in full (as applicable).
- Please note, orthotics are not normally covered by health insurance providers but the consultations / assessments often are.
- Please note we take a deposit at the time of booking for all patients including patients who are funded by their health insurance. This is to ensure patients attend for their appointments as medical insurance companies do not pay for missed appointments, this deposit is then refunded to you directly if you do not have an excess with your insurance company.
