Verrucae are a contagious virus that seem to thrive in damp conditions such as swimming pools, showers and bathrooms. Verrucae often disappear by themselves fairly quickly. However they can become troublesome and even painful for long periods of time.

The common treatment for verrucae are gels or ointments from the chemist however these treatments can burn the surrounding skin if not used with care and they can even make the verrucae more resistant to further treatment.

At Feet in Focus we are able to diagnosis, offer advice on suitable over the counter treatments and even treat verrucae with Cryotherapy, which removes the verrucae by freezing, other treatments include the application of strong acids and dry needling. The type of treatment deemed most appropriate can depend on the number, size and location of the verrucae, age of the patient and the levels of pain caused by the verrucae/

Dry Needling

Dry needling is an innovative and highly effective treatment for stubborn and resistant verrucae, the main aim of the treatment is to stimulate the body’s immune system so it fights the virus from within. Unlike the other common verrucae treatments such as freezing and acids which are often time consuming, inconvenient and costly dry needling often only needs to be performed 1-2 times, this can make dry needling more suitable for busy and individuals involved in sporting activities.
